SBS Radio celebrates the de‘light’ of Diwali

Embracing the cultural celebrations of Diwali the five day Hindu festival, SBS Radio will bring the experience in virtual reality with Tomorrow’s Diwali across all events. SBS Radio’s language programs – Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati and Nepali will also host on-air contests, providing audiences an opportunity to win gift vouchers.

Exploring what Indian festivals represent to the diverse Indian Australian community, Tomorrow’s Diwali combines real-time art with emotive narrative from a range of community voices. Using VR’s painting tool Google Tilt Brush, visual artist Keroshin Govender takes audiences on an immersive journey, creating visual representations that reflect diverse stories for all Australians to embrace.

SBS Radio is bringing the experience to events in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth throughout October and running a competition to win $200 Westfield vouchers. SBS Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati and Nepali broadcasters will host the ‘My Australian Diwali 2017’ competition where audiences can upload pictures of celebrating Diwali this year via the program websites. The most creative entry per program will each receive a $200 Westfield voucher. Competition closes on 25 October 2017.
