When the disfigured body of a young woman is found in a skip, a crack team of police officers and legal support are on the case.
This gripping new eight-part thriller, which takes its title from the French word 'engrenages', which translates as 'gears', but is often used to denote 'complications'.

Spiral
Surely the head in the bag belonged to Laborde? And this is presented to the younger magistrate by the older - after all, he used to come to this spot, used to hunt but does so no longer, and retained his hunting gear.

The Spiral continues
Series 1 had huge ratings in France and Series 2 started there May 2008 work on writing series 3 has supposedly commenced. In france it is known as L'engrenages. So all those who want to see it should start lobbying SBS now I guess ...

Gilou
OK, Gilou didn't die. He was resuscitated.

what the #$%^@&
I was disappointed by the questions remaining with Spiral. Was that Laborde's body in the forest at the end and what was that grey-haired magistrate going on about to Pierre. It sounded like he was about to declare his love. Not too impressed by how most threads were resolved with a corpse (Gilou, Romanian girls, Romanian mum, Romanian thug, Benoit). I think we need more ... and is there another series?

I think Karlsson destroyed the video for either 2 reasons: 1) because she didn't think the mother was telling the truth - knowing she was dying she thought it would be better for her son to have one parent? or 2) she was indeed evil, after all she accepted the job with Laborde. But who really knows? It was a great series either way. Will there be a second series?

Spiral Ending
I'm with Gary, what a cliff hanger of an ending. Seen somewhere that there is a second series but the first ep synopsis doesn't mention any of the questions left up in the air. Hope SBS gets the new series real soon

Spiral ending.
Why did the red-haired solicitor destroy the evidence that would have cleared the allegation of rape? Was that the red-haired solicitor's body that was about to be found at the end? I'm feeling somewhat confused after episode 8. Can someone help?

Superb Spiral!!!
I really enjoy watching Spiral .One of the best dramas among many good ones on SBS. No comparison to cheap, grotesque and too violent American crime dramas. You need to be smart to understand this complicated drama throughly with tangled situations &human emotions. Good casting, especially Gregory Fittousi is young but a great actor ,also gorgeous and classy(different from American TV actors). It is a shame that majority of Aussies watch silly things like Big Brother and Neighbours...e.t.c.

Spiral
Like Emma, I did not think that anything could match Unit One but Spiral is just something else. I can't wait for Thursdays to watch this magnificant series. SBS, you have outdone yourselves once again. Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Cold Case etc. etc. are left for dead and cannot compare to the fantastic dramas you continue to broadcast. I don't have pay television and if we had to pay for SBS, I would gladly pay it. Thanks again for putting on this fantastic series.

Ditto on Gary's comments! After enjoying Unit One so much I thought nothing could compare.....but I am thoroughly enjoying Spiral. Great to see a gritty European cop/legal show and a female lead who looks 'real' Keep up the good work SBS and please show the second series!
