SBS Celebrates Deadly Award Win
SBS is celebrating after triumphing at the 2011 Deadly Awards last night (27th September) with its flagship Indigenous current affairs program Living Black scooping the prize for Most Popular Television Show of the Year.
Currently in its 14th season, Living Black takes audiences on a journey around the country to tell vital stories important to all Australians about life and current issues from an Indigenous perspective.
From topical news and current affairs, to features examining stories in more detail, as well as showcasing and celebrating Indigenous triumphs - Living Black gives all Australians a place to learn more about the nation’s first peoples.
Living Black host Karla Grant said: “The team and I are truly honoured to receive this award and to be recognised for the work that we do. This Deadly award for Living Black demonstrates the program’s importance at promoting a better understanding of the issues facing Indigenous Australia amongst all Australians.”
SBS is once again proud to be the host broadcaster of the Deadly Awards. Now in its 17th year, the awards recognise and showcase Indigenous excellence in such fields as music, sport, entertainment, the arts and community.
This is the ninth year that SBS has been broadcast partner of this prestigious event, which will be held at the Sydney Opera House.
The Deadly Awards will be exclusively screening on Sunday, 2nd October at 9.30pm on SBS ONE, and repeated on Saturday, 8 October at 7.30pm on SBS TWO.
