Sastre's legs do the talking
After watching the Giro's stage sixteen, I have new-found admiration for a man who refuses to beat his chest and talk-the-talk.
They say every rider has at least one bad day over an three week Grand
Tour. Unfortunately, in the stage 12 time trial it was the turn of
Michael Rogers.
Some call him "The Grinder", others prefer to label him "The Silent Assassin". Either way, there's no denying the power and talent of Denis Menchov.
The sight of Lance Armstrong struggling to hang on to his big-name rivals at the end of the Giro's first testing day was a most unusual sight for cycling aficionados.
Michael Rogers has been talking up his form in the weeks leading up to the Giro and today he finds himself and his Columbia team in an ideal position.
Talk to any rider who has raced in the Giro or any spectator who has simply watched the race in the flesh from the sidelines, and they will tell you the Italian spectacle is the best cycle tour in the world.
