Make those New Year goals stick
We often start off eagerly with these goals in mind wanting to do things differently this year. For most people, by the time they get to February, they start to waver in their resolutions. The motivation is starting to fade and old habits are creeping back in.
It takes us about 6 to 8 weeks to form a new habit or to let go of an old one. So don’t make the goals too hard or make too many. That way you can make a conscious effort to keep going and stay focussed for at least that period. Once the new habit is formed, it won’t feel like such hard work.
Here are some tips to keep you motivated in your business and personal goals:
1. Write your goals down
2. Make sure they are realistic to achieve in the time frame you have set them
3. Place your goals in a place you can see them – create visibility
4. Break down your bigger goals into small goals so they are easy to achieve
5. Celebrate the wins with a little reward when you reach a goal
Got a goal you’ve set this year or in previous years? Share it. Tell us how you made it stick.
Happy New Year!
