Will you survive or thrive?
Isn't there so much doom and gloom at present? I am constantly hearing the word "survive" in work. This is a mindset in my view. If we perceive that we may or may not make it, we might not!
Staying positive and inspired in economically challenging times is essential. Here are some tips to stay positive.
1. People are watching you and your leadership all the time. If you are uninspired and being negative about changes, people will follow you.
2. Be adaptable and revise plans. Just because you started the year with a projection of sales and profit, these may need to be revised to meet the climate.
3. People are taking longer to make decisions as they have to watch their dollar more and make it go further. Be patient with them and give them all the information they need and let them take their time to make the decisions.
4. In these times, staying inspired is important. I came across a fantastic slideshow on leadership lessons by the inspirational US President, Barack Obama. My three key takeaways for the current climate were: deliver with passion; have a stable strategy with flexible tactics; and stay calm under pressure.
5. Change your offerings – if the client now has a lesser budget, review what you can offer them for that budget.
