Mixin Pixel will be giving updates of the real life filming of the documentary about Second Life that will be screened on SBS.

This week, we finally started shooting CyberStars. This is a one hour documentary that will profile three different people in their real life and their Second Life as they strive to achieve their virtual dreams.

The documentary will also take a peek into some of the Second Life sub-cultures, such as furries and virtual family life. It will explore how virtual worlds are providing a unique way to collaborate artistically and how it can be a cathartic force for healing.

I started developing and writing this project back in January 2007 and has been circulating in funding limbo for about a year. It's very excited to see it finally in production.

We will start filming the machinima to profile their Second Lives in July.

Here is a pic of the small team in full swing. Peter Zakharov on camera, Bart Bee on sound and Andy about to be interviewed.

Even though we only need to deliver to the broadcaster in Standard Definition, High Definition is definitely the way to go to get broader distribution possibilities. This will mean high def machinima capture at 1920x1080 resolution. Better get some more storage!
