When I completed my book Passion@Work, I decided to ask Wayne Jackson to do my foreword. Wayne is the Chairman of Minters Ellison Lawyers and the former Commissioner and CEO of the Australian Football League. I believe that Wayne knew me enough to write my foreword having worked with Minter Ellison Lawyers as a client of mine and I share his passion for AFL.
Having people that fit into your set of values is really important. There have been many people in history who have been named the promoter of a product and then been seen to be doing or supporting the opposite of the brand or product they are promoting.
Some areas to consider before you ask someone to represent your business:
1. Make sure the person you are thinking of getting involved is going to be a fit with your brand/product
2. Make sure the values of your brand/product is going to be in alignment with the message you are sending
3. The contract you have in place is clear and concise
On a small business scale. Branding can be as simple as testimonials on your website, associates with your business and if you get asked to promote a product.
Have you ever been asked to promote something or asked someone else to and it has not worked?
