In-Flight entertainment gets fancy! iPads on Jetstar

Finally the boredom of a long but cheap flight can be overcome with just $10. Jetstar is now offering iPads for hire – complete with the latest release movies, music, magazines and games.
Available currently only on selected flights there are 3000 iPads across the Jetstar network with that number set to grow over the next year.
I travelled to Auckland on a Jetstar flight without any in-flight entertainment which helped re-inforce the value of having things like the latest Hollywood movies at your fingertips.
As with any in-flight entertainment there is a suite of content updated each month.
In the ‘Audio’ category there are albums to listen to, while in TV shows you’ll find some great current and classic shows including one that SBS Viewers know only too well – ‘Man Vs. Wild’
The iPads will come in smart-cases which contain an add-on battery capable of providing some 20 hours of additional battery life.
When the ‘fleet’ of iPads is fully rolled out there will be 24 iPads available on each A320, 30 on its A321’s and 160 on its longer haul A330 fleet.
Without doubt, this is a great leap forward for passengers on Jetstar flights around Australia and New Zealand who want to buy the cheaper flights, but perhaps don’t want the entertainment of a blank seat back.
Parents will be pleased with the ‘kids zone’ which changes the content offering to kids-safe stuff like the Wiggles and Banana’s in Pyjamas and does make it difficult for the kids to get back out into the normal content.
If you’re travelling Jetstar any time soon, enjoy the added benefit of personalised in-flight entertainment and let me know what you think!
