SBS will show more live stages of the Giro d’Italia than ever before
when the first of cycling’s three Grand Tours begins in May. Eight
stages of the iconic race will be shown live on SBS TWO as well as daily
highlights.
Known for its spectacular mountain stages, the Giro
d’Italia will begin with a race against the clock in Herning, Denmark
on Saturday 5 May, finishing with an individual time-trial in Milan on
Sunday 27 May.
Australian team GreenEDGE, fresh from early
season success in France, Spain and at the Milan-San Remo Classic, will
make its grand tour debut at the Giro d’Italia,
SBS will broadcast daily highlights at 6:00pm on SBS TWO and online, plus show eight key stages live (to eastern states):
Stage 6 – 11:10pm Friday 11 May on SBS TWO
Stage 7 – 11:10pm Saturday 12 May on SBS TWO
Stage 14 – 11:10pm Saturday 19 May on SBS TWO
Stage 15 – 11:10pm Sunday 20 May on SBS TWO
Stage 17 – 11:10pm Wednesday 23 May on SBS TWO
Stage 19 – 11:10pm Friday 25 May on SBS TWO
Stage 20 – 11:10pm Saturday 26 May on SBS TWO
Stage 21 – 11:10pm Sunday 27 May on SBS TWO
SBS’s coverage will be hosted by Michael Tomalaris who will be joined
by SBS Cycling Analyst Scott Sunderland, with commentary from Matt
Keenan and Sydney Olympic gold medallist Scott McGrory.

Giro route made to tempt tour champions
Giro d'Italia organisers unveiled a race route for 2013 that they hope will entice the big grand tour riders like Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins into challenging for the race's pink jersey. Full Story
De Gendt ready to re-sign with Vacansoleil-DCM to 2015
Belgian rider Thomas de Gendt, who took an unlikely podium finish at this year's Giro d'Italia, behind Spain's Joaquim Rodriguez and Canadian Ryder Hesjedal has stated his intent to remain with Vacansoleil-DCM until the end of 2015 season where he says he feels "comfortable" and capable of performing at his best.
