Leipheimer makes it three

Team Astana's Levi Leipheimer won his third consecutive Tour of California crown.

Saxo Bank's Frank Schleck edged Vincenzo Nibali of Liquigas at the line to take the stage win.

Australia's Michael Rogers finished on the podium, third on the classification.

It's a crashfest

About
Attracting the biggest names and teams in Professional cycling the Tour of California is America's biggest and highest rated professional cycling race.

The ToC is set to grow to even greater levels in 2009 with the return of American cycling legend Lance Armstrong to racing and to the roads of California.

With the inclusion of Lance Armstrong, European riders will be out to make their presence felt on a race that has always been dominated by American riders and teams.

Traveling almost the entire length of California, the race will begin in the state’s capital, Sacramento, and finish in Escondido. Also for the first time, the riders will cross the Golden Gate Bridge.

Scheduled over nine consecutive days, the race will visit 16 host cities for official stage starts and finishes, with communities along the route getting the chance to see, firsthand, a lineup of some of the most elite, recognizable teams and athletes in the world.
