ENECO Tour
Netherlands, 17 - 24 Aug 09

About

About
Now in its 5th year, the ENECO Tour replaces the Tour of the Netherlands and is an important fixture on the cycling calendar given the history of Dutch and Belgian cycling on the continent; one that produces many champions for the sport.

The eight-day race includes stages in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg, and features all the tough characteristics of northern European cycling - echelons caused by side winds, team tactics, exciting racing and fast sprints.

Covering approximately 1,200 kilometres and with a lack of major climbs, most of the stages are decided in sprint finishes while the strong men attempt to get away in the final kilometres.

The race profile travels over much of the ground of the legendary Spring Classics that are so familiar to cycling fans, courses that favour strong all-round riders and sprinters.

The ENECO Tour will feature a combination of ProTour and Continental teams.
