Chavanel forced out of San Sebastian Classic

Sylvain Chavanel, who wore the Tour de France yellow jersey for two days, has pulled out of the upcoming San Sebastian Classic suffering from an infected toe, his Quick Step team said.
"I had this problem in the last days of the Tour," said Chavanel, who won two stages on this year's Tour de France which finished last weekend.
"The foot swelled up and I can't compete in a high level race like the Classic."
Chavanel will take a few days of rest before returning to training next week.
The Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian-San Sebastian is a one-day classic on the UCI ProTour calendar.
The route runs 230km through the Basque Country of Spain.
The defending champion is Chavanel's Quick Step teammate, Carlos Barredo.
The Spaniard will lead the team in the race.
Quick Step Line-up Clasica San Sebastian:
Carlos Barredo (Spa), Jerome Pineau (Fra), Kevin De Weert (Bel), Dries Devenyns (Bel), Mauro Facci (Ita), Francesco Reda (Ita), Jurgen Van de Walle (Bel), Maarten Wynants (Bel).
