Contador signs two-year deal with Riis Cycling

Three-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador of Spain has signed a two-year contract with Danish cyclist Bjarne Riis's team, sponsored by SaxoBank-Sungard, Riis announced in Copenhagen.

In addition to the Tour de France, Contador has won the Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a Espana, Paris-Nice, Pais-Vasco, Tour of Algarve and Spanish national championships time-trial.
”Alberto (Contador) is a world class rider and it's with great pride that I can welcome him onboard the team for the next two years," said Riis.
"With three Tour de France victories on his resume and a position as number one on the world rankings, he is sure to stay at the very top for several years to come.
"Alberto will get a solid, strong and loyal team around him to support him in all terrains and I'm sure that this will be a fruitful alliance,” said team owner, Bjarne Riis.
Contador leaves behind his current kazakhstan based Astana team as the fifth rider in history, and as the first Spaniard, to win all three Grand Tours of road cycling.
With the Astana team the Spaniard has won the 2008 Giro d'Italia, the 2008 Vuelta a España, the 2009 Tour de France, and the 2010 Tour de France.
”I'm very happy and excited about signing a two year contract with Riis Cycling. With the unique philosophy and team spirit the team offers I'm ensured solid support from the sponsors, administration and staff of riders that I'm looking forward to becoming a part of myself," said Contador.
'Historically, Riis Cycling has always been successful and together, we will have the ability to play a very important role in the world of cycling in the years to come," he concluded.
Riis Cycling also announced that Saxo Bank, the trading and investment specialist, will become co-title sponsor with software and technology companySunGard.

Saxo Bank and SunGard have ensured that the Team can continue its essential role within the world of cycling and will be able to maintain competing at the highest level, Riis explained.
Contador will take his place in the SaxoBank-Sungard team at the beginning of the 2011 season.
