Canberra's Caroline Buchanan defended her world title in the four-cross category at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada.

Compatriot Sarsha Huntington was seventh.

Aussie ace Jared Graves from Toowoomba fell just short of defending his men's title, finishing with the silver medal behind Czech Republic rider Tomas Slavik.

Fellow Australians Randal Huntington David Habicht and Richard Levinson finished outside the top eight.

Both Buchanan and Graves will focus now on qualifying for the Australian BMX team to compete in the London Olympics in 2012.
