As sister Anna prepares for another assault at the Commonwealth Games, Kerrie is in deep training for a road ride with a twist and is seeking support in her quest to raise funds for terminally ill children.
She will join a group of cyclists who plan to pedal from Bright, in Victoria's high country, to Adelaide - a total distance of almost 1200 kilometres - for the Sam Roberts Foundation.
Kerrie says she will ride the last 150 kilometres.
The aim is to raise around $60,000 to continue funding the needs for Women's and Children Hospital in Adelaide.
A special fund-raising event will be held this Saturday, September 11 at the Pembroke Senior School, while the ride itself will start from Bright on Monday, September 27. Meares hopes to reach the hospital in Adelaide seven days later.
"It will be an adventure of a lifetime and we will arrive at the Women's and Children's Hospital when we will donate 100% of all monies," Meares said.
Items to be auctioned at the benefit night will include personally signed books and jerseys by Lance Armstrong and Cadel Evans, and the Australian Commonwealth Games team, among others.
Those interested in donating to the Sam Roberts Foundation can directly contact Kerrie through kadmeares@hotmail.com
