Slipstream Sports today announced that it has entered into a partnership with AA Drink/Leontien.nl to operate a women's team for the 2012 season and beyond.

The announcement comes two months after the Garmin-Cervélo women's team was disbanded due to funding problem created when a new sponsor pulled out at the last minute.

AA Drink/Leontin.nl will operate the team at the races and the team will continue to be maintained by the Slipstream organisation.

Former Garmin-Cervelo riders Emma Pooley, Lizzie Armistead, Lucy Martin, Sharon Laws, Carla Ryan and Jessie Daams will join existing riders at the AA Drink / Leontien.nl Cycling Team and the squad will ride Cervelo bikes.

“We are pleased to partner with AA Drink / Leontien.nl,” said Jonathan Vaughters of Slipstream Sports. “[Team Manager] Michael Zilaard has built a strong organization and we are excited to work with him to combine our strengths. The 2012 team looks strong and we believe it will be a great year ahead.”
