Matthews king of the road
Australian Michael Matthews made it a double when he won the men's road race at the Oceania cycling championships in Southland.
Having earlier won the under-23 time trial, Matthews added to his medal collection with a dominant ride over the 113km race which ended in cold and wet conditions in Gore.
His time of three hours 9.25 seconds left him 3sec clear of silver medallist Matt Marshall and more than 2min ahead of bronze medallist, fellow New Zealander Alex McGregor.
Australian Bridie O'Donnell, who was third in the time trial, cleared out to win the women's race over 95km by more than 9min ahead of Kiwi Karen Fulton and Australian Rochelle Gilmore.
New Zealander Brad Evans won the under-19 title from Australian Jack Bennett.
