Cycling officials not welcome at Dajka funeral

Cycling Australia officials have been told they're not welcome at the funeral of former world champion Jobie Dajka.

A funeral notice was placed in today's edition of The Advertisernewspaper advising saying that executives of Cycling Australia are notwelcome at the request of the Dajka family.
A funeral service for the 27-year-old will be held in Adelaide this Friday, following his death last week.
Dajka's body was discovered on April 7 at his Adelaide house.
Dajka won a gold medal in the keirin at the 2002 track cyclingworld championships in Denmark and was a silver medal winner in thekeirin and sprint at the 2003 world championships.
In 2004, Dajka was kicked off the Australian team for the AthensOlympics after being charged with bringing the sport into disreputewhen he admitted lying to a doping investigation.
There was no suggestion that Dajka used any banned substances but hewas expelled because he lied about injecting himself with vitaminsduring a wider investigation into doping.
Dajka was recalled to the Australian team in 2005 but later bannedfrom professional cycling for 12 months after assaulting Australia'shead coach Martin Barras.
In 2006, Dajka admitted to suffering from depression.
Cycling Australia president Mike Victor said Dajka had never recovered from missing the Athens Games.
"It is a blow to the sport and he never really got over the (2004) disappointment and he had other issues going on in his life."
