Rabon wins Vuelta a Murcia title

Czech rider Frantisek Rabon held off a determined challenge from lastyear's winner Denis Menchov of Russia to take the overall title in theTour of Murcia.

Rabon, who had set up overall victoryin Saturday's time-trial when he won it, saw Menchov finish second, 38seconds behind with British hope Bradley Wiggins third overall 53seconds behind.

America's seven-time Tour de France championLance Armstrong finished seventh overall, over seven minutes off thepace after a disappointing time-trial on Saturday where he had come inover a minute slower than Rabon.

The 121km fifth and final stagewas won by Dutchman Theo Bos who finished ahead of Rabobank's GraemeBrown and Team Netapp's Daniel Schorn.

“It was really a fastfinal and that is really good for me. Brown was in my wheel and I knewthat I had to watch him. With 300 meters to go I opened the sprint andsaw Brown coming out of my wheel. When he tried to pass me Iaccelerated and he was not able to pass me and came back in my wheel,said Bos.”

For Australia's Brown it was yet another runnerplacing at the Tour of Murcia after finishing second on the first twostages behind Garmin Transitions Robbie Hunter.

Another Australian, Milram's Luke Roberts, who won the third stage, finished in 9th place on the final general classification.
