On the eve of the 2012 edition of the Tour de France, SBS presents One Sunday In Paris, the inside story of Cadel Evans’s historic Tour de France victory.
I think that will probably go down as one of the most memorable moments of my career standing up there for the first time. Hearing Advance Australia Fair and there’s all these Aussie flags and Australians there cheering.
Featuring exclusive interviews with Cadel, his team-mates and rivals, as well as never before seen vision from the race, this documentary provides a fascinating insight into one of the biggest moments in Australian sporting history.
It is a story filled with drama, excitement, passion and triumph as the boy from Katherine in Northern Territory claimed one of sport’s greatest prizes and captivated a nation.
The often private Cadel Evans opens up about his greatest victory, providing insight into key moments of the race, including his courageous chase of Andy Schleck on the Col du Galibier and his bike malfunction in the critical moments of Stage 19.
One Sunday In Paris also includes interviews with 2011 runner-up Andy Schleck, Cadel’s BMC team-mates George Hincapie, Marcus Burghardt and Manuel Quinziato plus BMC Team Director John Lelangue. Commentators Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin, five-time Tour de France winner Eddy Merckx and former yellow jersey holder Phil Anderson also feature in the documentary.
With never-before-seen behind the scenes footage, One Sunday In Paris relives some of key moments of last year’s race and captures the raw emotion behind Cadel Evans’s historic Tour de France victory.
What better prologue to Cadel’s defence of the Tour de France in 2012.
