Tasmanian teenager Amy Cure has been awarded the best young rider's jersey and placed second overall in the Star Zeeland Islands Tour in the Netherlands.

The 19-year-old Jayco-AIS rider went into the final stage with a 16-second overall lead but experienced Dutch star Kirsten Wild (AA Drink-Leontien.nl), 10 years her senior, won the three intermediate sprints and the stage to earn the bonus seconds needed to move ahead of Cure.

The young Australian crossed the line in fourth place at the end of the 131km third and final stage out and back from Westkapelle on the North Sea coast.

That put her second overall three seconds behind Wild with Amy Pieters (Skil-Argos) third at 12 seconds.

Cure topped the best young rider standings by a nine second margin back to Pieters.

"I'm so happy," said Cure. "I couldn't have thanked all my team mates enough today. They all helped me out so much."

Cure was joined in the Jayco-AIS team by Josie Tomic, Annette Edmondson and Sarah Kent for the race.

Cure, Tomic and Edmondson along with Melissa Hoskins, who raced in Holland in national team colours, will now head into the London 2012 Olympic Games training camp to prepare for their Olympic track campaign.
