Cannondale's Peter Sagan, has been confirmed as a starter for the Subaru Australian Open Criterium on 2 November.

The Tour de France green jersey winner will be joined in Noosa by his Cannondale teammates Juraj Sagan, his older brother, and Australia's Cameron Wurf.

“The more energy and personality guys like Peter bring to the sport, the more people will want to watch it,” said Andrew Caie, Subaru General Manager of Marketing.

“Plus having Peter here will help people appreciate how good our local talent is, which is important to growing the appeal of cycling in Australia.

“Having Peter here is also a great way for our young kids to get a sense of what it’s like to be a part of the big wide world of the professional cycling as it appears in Europe.”

The criterium forms part of the Noosa Tri Multi Sport Festival with previous winners including Robbie McEwen, Allan Davis and Jonathan Cantwell.

The race, held on a tight 'hot dog' circuit along Noosa Parade, will also include a strong contingent of Australia’s international stars along with some of the best from the Subaru National Road Series.

The Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival runs from Wednesday 30 October to Sunday 3 November.

Highlights of the Noosa Criterium will be broadcast on Sunday 3 November 2310 - 0010 SBS ONE and repeated on Sunday 10 November 1330 - 1400  SBS ONE.
