Claudianna Blanco started her career in media over 10 years ago in her native Venezuela, when she began working as a producer of TV commercials, while studying her BA in Mass Communications and Audiovisual Journalism.
Over the years she has worked in three different continents in virtually every type of media outlet and genre: from producing a hidden-camera TV show and writing promos, to working in film, radio news and back to TV. Claudianna’s work has aired worldwide through The Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, the History Channel, and MTV, among others.
In 2002, Claudianna was awarded with the Japanese Government’s Ministry of Education Scholarship for four consecutive years to conduct graduate research studies in filmmaking at Nihon University, Japan’s most prestigious film school. She graduated from her Masters in Documentary Filmmaking in 2006 (and yes, she did study her masters in Japanese!).
In 2005, Claudianna joined NHK World Radio Japan, where she worked as a newscaster for four years. Also in 2005, Claudianna and her colleague, Irene Herrera, received the Grand Prix for the documentary ‘Kodo o Awaseba’ (Tune in Two Hearts), at the 2005 World Expo International Friendship Film Festival.
In 2006, Claudianna began working as a Producer for an International Production Company in Tokyo. During her three year stay at the company, she worked as a Producer and Project Manager in numerous productions, ranging from documentaries and award-winning reality shows, to live concerts.
Claudianna joined Dateline as a Production Coordinator in 2010, after migrating to Australia.
