Dateline video journalist Mark Davis was just metres away as two
explosions ripped through former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s
motorcade in Karachi last Thursday night, killing at least one hundred
and twenty five people and injuring hundreds more.
The blasts occurred only a few hours after Mrs Bhutto had touched down in Pakistan after an absence of eight years.
Davis
had joined the former Pakistani leader on her homecoming flight from
Dubai, conducting interviews with her and members of her entourage,
many of whom are now believed to have been killed in the blasts.
Davis
continued to film after the first blast and captures the chaos and fear
of the moment. Many of those in the motorcade were unsure whether this
first explosion was in fact a bomb, and as Davis moves towards the
horror scene a second bomb detonates.
Mrs Bhutto’s convoy was slowed by hundred of thousands of supporters celebrating her arrival.
