Video journalist David Brill is a veteran of dodging gun fire in war zones, but on his recent visits to Afghanistan he’s found weapons are being increasingly put aside in favour of diplomacy, and persuading local people to take lawful control of their areas.
The ‘fight less, talk more’ campaign was well under way in Khost Province when David first met US Lieutenant Colonel Robert Campbell for Dateline in September last year.
Now, as Campbell finishes his tour of duty, David returns to Afghanistan to find out what the Colonel has achieved, what barriers still remain, and how local villagers are feeling about Campbell's time in their country.
