The Jama'at-ud-Da'wah organisation in Pakistan says it’s a charity helping the poor, but the US and UN say it’s a front for one of the world’s biggest terrorist networks.
Journalist Evan Williams goes in search of the truth for Dateline, and gains rare access to the organisation’s headquarters to see its work first-hand and hear its assurances.
But the UN says it’s simply a new name for the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, which was banned in Pakistan following terrorist attacks in India, including the deaths of 173 people in Mumbai in 2008.
