‘Nuclear terrorism is now one of the most challenging threats to international security’, according to US President Barack Obama, and this week he gathered representatives from 47 nations in Washington to discuss how to tackle the threat.
They agreed to work together on securing nuclear equipment and information to stop it falling into the wrong hands, but the fight against so-called ‘loose nukes’ will be no easy task.
George Negus interviews one of the dignitaries who attended, Queen Noor of Jordan. She’s the widow of the late King Hussein of Jordan, and co-founder of the anti-nuclear weapons proliferation campaign Global Zero.
He asks what she thinks of the new treaty and if ‘global zero’ will ever become a reality – watch the interview here.
