Puppy Love

When soldiers return home from war zones like Iraq, it’s not just the physical scars that take time to heal. Many are traumatised and suffer Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

It can ruin their lives, and those of their families, but in the United States, help is coming from an unlikely source… man’s best friend.

Video journalist Aaron Lewis has been to meet some of the people being helped back to a normal life by East Coast Assistance Dogs, whose animals provide not only physical help, but also an important emotional bond.

The scheme’s success has even led to the US Congress funding a pilot program to provide service dogs to disabled veterans.
