Logie Nominations

Dateline scored two nominations in this year’s TV Week Logie Awards, both in the category of Most Outstanding Public Affairs Report.

Presenter and video journalist Mark Davis was nominated for The Condemned. After months of negotiations, Dateline was able to get exclusive interviews with Bali Nine members Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran. The Australians are on death row in Indonesia for drug trafficking.

Video journalist Fouad Hady was a finalist for Iraq's Deadly Legacy, which reported on the potential links between the depleted uranium weapons used in the Iraq War and the recent increase in birth deformities and cancers. The story also won a Walkley Award and a UN Media Peace Award last year.

"I'm delighted to see this important recognition of Dateline's intimate story-telling style.", said Executive Producer Peter Charley. "Two nominations in one year is a genuine accolade for us, and a tribute to our commitment to quality journalism. Congratulations to Mark, Fouad and the production team that made their stories possible."

There were also nominations for Seven's Sunday Night, Nine's A Current Affair, and the ABC's Four Corners, which was the eventual winner at the Logie Awards ceremony in Melbourne on Sunday 1st May, for a report on people smuggling in Indonesia.
