Juliano Mer-Khamis courted controversy all his life… born to a Palestinian Christian father and a Jewish mother, and finding fame as an actor playing both Arab and Jewish roles.
But it was the Palestinian cause that he fought for and ultimately sacrificed his life for when he was shot dead, by a Palestinian, in April.
His death followed threats against the Freedom Theatre he started in the Jenin refugee camp to provide an alternative to the armed struggle that claimed so many young lives.
He put on a series of controversial plays with political storylines and even predicted that they would lead to him being shot dead.
Video journalist Amos Roberts explores the life and legacy of the actor and activist, and asks if his death could signal the start of a deadly conflict over culture.
