Dateline presenter Yalda Hakim travels to Afghanistan for a candid, one-on-one interview with President Hamid Karzai.
The President gives a revealing assessment of the war on terror, extremism within his country, the death of Australian troops in Afghanistan, and what he calls ‘human rights violations’ by America in his country. And he has a strong message for Afghan asylum seekers in Australia: come home to rebuild your country.
Yalda also travels with Karzai to Pakistan for talks with President Asif Ali Zardari and Iran’s leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the Afghan President pushes towards peace talks with the Taliban.
Will he succeed? And where does it all leave the international war on terror?
