The 2012 London Olympics has been labelled the costliest Games ever… a sporting spectacular wrapped in the tightest security operation in the UK since World War Two, and driven by multi-million dollar sponsorship from some of the world’s biggest corporations.
So what ever happened to the Olympic ideals of friendship, solidarity and fair play?
Evan Williams talks with protesters who are demanding that anti-aircraft missiles not be put on their apartment block and businessmen and entrepreneurs who, due to the massive corporatisation of the Olympics, say they won’t benefit from this once in a lifetime opportunity.
So has the Olympic spirit been sold to the highest bidder?
