The Young Republicans

Dateline with Yalda Hakim comes live from Chicago, as the final week of the tightly fought US election race gets under way.

But as the onslaught of Hurricane Sandy shuts down much of north east America, campaigning for Barack Obama and Mitt Romney has been thrown into chaos.

Before the storm hit, Yaara Bou Melhem went out on the streets with a group of young campaigners trying to make their voices heard.

The DC Young Republicans travel across the country encouraging people not just to vote for Mitt Romney, but in a country where voting is optional, to make the effort to vote at all.

Away from the loud voices of the politicians, what are the concerns of the real American public?
