A world without scientific medicine
Given some of the remarks by alternative medicine buffs, I wonder how they think Africa can still have disease at all. After all, lacking a "western" medical system in many parts of the country "alternative" medicine is the only form of care available, and they have a hundred thousand years of ancient folk wisdom/superstition to draw on. Furthermore, they should be really healthy, wealthy and trouble-free given that "Big Pharma" and "The Multinational Corporations" have minimal presence there.

hm and again
Bob, who do you think is going to make all that product. You dont set up a massive facility just to make one product line. It would then be done at a site where lots of other tablets and preparations are made. Who would that be? Who would regulate it? How would the regulations be enforced? What are the other preparations that are produced on the site? We have a TGA that is willing to expose themselves to massive criticism? What protection will the Artequick market have? AustL drugs in Africa?

mutation and process
Another point is that P falcipirum is a powerhouse of genetic changes- exactly why it has proved difficult to make a vaccine against. Given past mistakes with eradication it is quite prudent to be *very* cautious releasing this to the world. This may sound harsh, but rushing in to saving a few lives now for what might only be a couple of years of usefulness is by far not worth losing this great drug for eternity. *that* is what the Procedure is for. With Process only mistakes will be made
