George's dodgy 31000 scientists curve ball.

Dear George Negus, You are a fine journalist, however you did not display this in your interview with Wangari Maathai. Your use of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicines Petition does not reflect well on your researchers. 3 seconds of investigation would have revealed how statistically inaccurate it is. It should not have been mentioned. Its an impressive figure which impresses some but its a sham. How many of those 31000 have peer reviewed articles on climate change? None is my guess.

THE UGLY TRUTH

Professor Maathai's enthusiasm to plant trees is most welcome. However she assumes that cutting CO2 will quickly solve climate issues and bases her arguments on fear. In Australia, unilaterally cutting CO2 emissions by 20% by 2020 will push us into a permanent recession leading to massive unemployment and will have no positive impact on climate. The person in the street is still not being told the ugly truth about how the supposedly green policies will impoverish Australians for generations.

Dear Neilious from Adelaide

Why did global temperatures reduce from 1940 to 1970;s in the northern hemisphere at a time of massive increases in co2? The post war economic boom. This 30 plus year span is long enough to call 'climate'. Global cooling was all the rage in the mid seventies. You are right, I'm not a climate scientist but at least I can read graph. Co2 goes up for 30 years while the temperature falls. Man made Climate change is a global scam.

Not good enough

Another climate alarmist gets airtime. You do know she's wrong about Mt Kilamanjaro? If not, you should. When are you going to interview real scientists who will tell you why AGW is a scam? And two weeks in a row, please. People are tired of the alarmists. The fact that climate realists never get interviewed is enough to verify that AGW is a scam. Stop the indoctrination. And politicians love AGW because it lets them tax and regulate and there isn't a poly alive who doesn't love that power.

Dear John from Victoria

Thank you for the weather report, its a really cold day down here in Adelaide at the moment which obviously proves that Climate Change is false. Just for your information, 10 years is of very little statistical significance, that's why Climate is defined as the measurement of temperature over 30 years or more. Gosh, another person who thinks their a Climatologists, hey you should send off an application form for the Oregon Petition Project. Its alright, they wont check your background.

Another soft comment

Oh Dear, Lance Watt believes he knows something that the consensus of scientific experts in the field don't. Alas, but AGW is just one big global conspiracy because the odd scientist writes an unscientific Novel for the layman, not the scientific community, and self-opinionated bloggers such as Bolt rallies his minions to swamp discussion forums such as this. Fear not Little Lance, ive got the perfect discussion forum for you to debate the science with all your expertise; http://www.nature.com/

The Climate Change Sham

George's interview last night with Wangari Maathai upset me. The interview was supposed to be a balance to the previous week's interview (as introduced by George) but was instead more of the same but with even less science. The guest was accurate - there is measurable global warming - but she dismissed scientists who acknowledge this, yet who dispute that human activity is the primary cause. Planting trees is a good thing but it does not validate the notion that burning fossil fuels is eco-evil.

Biologist

If you look at her Wiki bio she is a Biologist - but say patently wring things like "the only species on the planet that can actually trap it for us in a natural process of photosynthesis are the trees" I guess other plants and sea life live on fairy dust. Also on record she says AIDs was man made to kill black people. But we should follow her beleif in global warming
