Stop defending taxpayer funded psychopathic kid killers
these Aussie soldiers are psychopaths , are actually trying to justify killing kids, and we let they walk the streets , and they pretend to serve our country killing unarmed villagers in back blocks Afghanistan to PROTECT Australia , they must be as thick as bricks or totally insane , hiding behind a uniform to jusyify their ccrimes and lack of moral fibre Anybody with half a brain knew years ago un winnable and unjustifiable and ILLEGAL

Disgraceful
Your story was biased and sensationalised. You were very quick to take the word of an Afghan, yet question every word of your own countryman. What fantasy world are you living in? Every Afghan is aware of the war and know the stakes of speeding through check points. Where was the report on how many lives Australian soldiers have saved and the reasons why we are there in the first place? I noticed there was no mention of the Bali bombings

Shame on you SBS
This report was nothing short of sensationalist gutter journalism. If you were being fired upon by evemy with heavier calibre Soviet block weaponry, barricaded in adobe buildings which can't be penetrated by our NATO caliblre rounds, what would you do? I'm guessing not call in close air support.

not enough evidence cont...
Also, the victims of the helo incident say nothing of who attacked them. The reporter has no hard evidnece from witnesses to say if it was Aussie troops who attacked, or even if it were helos. The reporter is very keen to judge our armed forces quickly, and put a negative spin on the War Against Terror. Unfortunatly war causes casualties on both parties. It is well known also for the Taliban to use negative propaganda against the Troops. Like people shown in the hospital, who have blast injury.

MORE BALANCE REQUIRED
The reporter obviously knew nothing about the modern Australian army or counter insurgency warfare strategy and tactics and the enormous difficulties involved in fighting such wars. Australian troops are amongst the best in the world especially at fighting this kind of war and they know more than most armies the importance of the support of the civilian population. A complete ban on all air strikes would produce thousands of casualties amongst allied troops with whole units being destroyed.
