Can Islamic cultures peacefully co-exist with other religions?
In Ladakh, even Buddhists, the most revered practitioners of peace and discipline, have had violent clashes with their Muslim neighbours in two different communities. Is there any experience in 2nd and 3rd world countries that we know of where Muslim minorities have managed to live in peaceful co-existence with the majority and other minorities? I honestly have heard of one so if anyone can provide some answers, I hope that I can research this more.

response to program
I live in the US and watch Dateline online because it is so much better than news coverage on American TV. I wouldn't mind if the Uighurs settled in my country or my city, but I don't know if they would be safe from discrimination here. The US rounded up most non-Afghans in Afghanistan and took them to Guantanamo regardless of what their reasons for being in Afghanistan were. Now the US government has said that they are not terrorists, so they should not be treated that way.

PLEASE, GO TO A MUSLIM COUNTRY
Do Australians a favour and go to to a Muslim country. We don't like being used and bullied into submission, when you don't get your way. I don't want my children living under "sharia law. The big Muslim population in Great Britain is pushing their way in trying to bring in sharia law. Wherever you go, you try to turn the country that accepts you, in to the country you left behind. I have written to Rudd about Muslims in Australia. Rudd has a Duty of Care to protect Aussies from sharia.

Australia should accept other seven Uighurs.
I am an Uyghur-Australian. And I'm proud to be a citizen of this great democracy. I don't think Australia should take these men. As an American ally, Australia should help the US government to solve the Guantanamo problem. And there are still seven more Uighurs - who have been cleared as not terrorists - in Guantanamo. Australia should take those seven Uighurs and help the Obama administration to close Gitmo. And the Australian Uighur community is ready to help the Uighurs if they come.

Unfair
It is such a shame these people are not allowed to resettle in Australia. These people actually want to make a home in Australia, yet we are so ready to open the doors to people with $$ that do not want to settle in Australia and are only interested in profiting and leaving. I live in Asia and constantly see examples of people living in OZ to use the free schools, Medicare, launder $$ etc then once the children are educated, invested they return back to China etc.

Moved by their suffering
Thanks so much Dateline, for bringing to our screens a very moving and honest story, about these innocent Uighur men who endured 8 years in Guantanamo. This is only the tip of the iceberg of injustice the Chinese Government have dished out to the Uighurs of North West China. If the Australian Government were to research extensively their plight, they might be shocked at the truly horrific Genocide being waged there; and act compassionately towards these men, who have unjustly suffered so much.

don't stand for it, your next in line
I am ashamed that a G20 country as Australia is being bullied by another country, in not independent enough to make their own decisions and the only marker of their decisions is money. It is clear that our values are changing and we are adopting Chinese values of competition, greed and bullying. Today its Tibet and Turkistan, tomorrow its another country, why do others have to pay with their lives for the insatible desire to breed of the Chinese or shall I say distorted values.

ARE THEY LESS EQUAL?
We took back David Hicks. wHY NOT THESE PEOPLE. ARE THEY LESS EQUAL? Suppose they did commit an act of terrorism, one man's terrorist is another mans freedom frighter. Their country has been seiged and their people are being killed one by one. We call this genocide. We track and capture nazisev en after 50 years yet the Chinese, Serbians, Jews and Thai are killing muslims and we were and are insensitive to it. Then we complain about musim terrorism, perhaps they have cracked.
