Straight-forward definition

It was such a breath of fresh air to have Will Hutton and his expert insights into the complex British voting system. He explained most of the confusion around how everything works in a very direct manner, which impressed me a lot. I hope to see more of Will Hutton in the future, superb interview George.

Dateline report on British election

George Negus seemed to suggest during the interview with the British commentator that the problem with the British electoral system (first-past-the post) was they could well end up with a Hung Parliament . In other words why not change to what we do in Australia. George the problem is Australia is worse. The rigid two-party tyranny has condemned this country to compulsorily electing either the one or the other of two look-alike major parties. Only proportional representation can overcome that.

Cultural cringe

Why is it any "grown up" discussion on Australian TV with the UK in question sees puerile comments on the cricket and how cold beer is? George Negus's latest interview with Will Hutton is so pedictable. By the way George, England hold the Ashes right now, and it's not warm beer, it's just not frozen to hide the fact Oz beer tastes like p--s..
