Afghanistan (Worlds best Graveyard)....

Two years ago I spent a week in Kabul Afghanistan. There i realised that how mighty Talibans are.... Few miles away from Kabul in Logar there were camps of Talibans. The only road from Kabul to Gardez goes through Logar province. Will you believe or not Talibans were hiking few miles away from Nato camp. Imagine how weak Nato and Americans are. <sigh>

Wow part 2

And another thing. Let's stop calling them freedom fighters. You're only a 'freedom fighter' if the vision of society you want offers more freedom than the status quo. Once again, a corrupt/incompetent/puppet democratic state is sub-par but beats the Taliban's desired revival of the Dark Ages. You also can't call them freedom fighters when the government they oppose actually has more legitimacy given their (at least nominal) adherence to the rule of law, free elections, universal suffrage etc.

Wow

Wow, there have been some stupid comments. While this piece humanises some of the Taliban fighters, it doesn't negate the fact that the Taliban, when they're not decapitating teachers for educating girls or what not, attack civilians with devastating effect. They are murderers and letting them retake the country is not an option given their oppressive tendencies. Whether you think the government in Kabul is a puppet/corrupt/incompetent, it offers vastly better chance at a free society than their

The Real Islam

Whether we like it or not these Afghan men are sincerely following their faith which is the true Islam and are a great example of strength and perseverance. The fundamentals of Islam is to fight the unbeliever, whether in their own country or in the world without fear of death and looking forward to the rewards of a martyr, just like Muhammed did in his struggle for Arabia. Unlike all the other world religions, true Muslims will kill non-believers as invaders or as the invaders.

freedom to invade and destroy us

The Taliban may want freedom !!! and they had it,but they should not impose their so called freedoms on the west with their terrorist training camps so that they can spread there biased views on us, I am quite happy with my religion and my beliefs , and my standard of life, and I have no wish to return to the dark ages of over one thousand years ago..

Great journalistic work

First things first, great job for the journalists who did this. It's rare, good, nice images, ni comment, nice editing... Very rare images. Sorry you had to risk your life, i wont say it's worth it as a life is invaluable, but thank you so much. My heart is broken at the idea that these two cute kids were killed... This is the risk when you are waging a war next to where you live. I think that we should reopen the negotiations and build a lasting peace in this country of war.
