If you wanna compare than compare RIGHTTTT!

80 rupees Is not less than a dollar! It's acctually more than 2 dollars! And whats the point of comparing? DO THE INDIANS CARRY DOLLARS? 80 ruppes is okay! its "enough to fill an empty stomach"! And about the guy "arif", there are goverment skools everywhere and they are free and the skool provides everything, books, uniform, everythinn...so how can he not afford to go to the skool when its freee? THATS STUPIDDD!!! totallly stupid!

Unfair

Money for the Games? Money for the training? What about the country's people? How is it fair to let the citizens of India suffer in the slums with low hygeine levels while they are spending money on the Games and not supporting their people first? Banishing residents from their slums to the outskirts of the city is definately not the right thing to do and doing this is just purely being ashamed of the poor people of the country. Put yourselves in the shoes of the citizens and think again.

modern india

very well documented, let me add some more to the summary. In a way india trying to show the world that they are super power, curtaining the black side of the country. Corruption has become a national issue, raising the question whether having a international event like this is important after all? *** for ur information, they are hosting the cricket world cup next year, never been questioned before with the wealthiness of them cricket board.....................!

80 Rs a day

Some people here are really confused as to what is the fuss around 80 Rs a day being 2 $ not 1 $. Ok the point is why over simplify and state costs in $'s. Do indians carry dollars? I was a software developer in India and when i started i started with 3000 Rs a Month(100 Rs a Day). I was living at my parents house so was a bit easy. But 80 Rs a day is no way nothing as this report proclaims. If u hafta include housing in it.then u see problems.

A Biased report

It's seem that SBS having a hidden agenda to make a biased propaganda about India among the Australians.India is not like Australia just having 20 million people to develop, rather 50 Australia in a country so naturally there will be a poverty which will be eradicate soon. I know clearly what is the conditions of Native Aborigine People in 'Developed country Australia' so put your concentration on developing them rather involving in unwanted propaganda of Indian Poverty

Show was reality of situation

Can't believe how much fuss people have made here about what is the proper conversion rate of 80 rupees. So what if it's actually A$2 not A$1? Do you think it is fair for people to earn A$2 a day, living in plastic tents and kids not being school? There are 10 year olds building the CWG. It's high time that emerging countries stop thinking that they need to be seen as the next superpower by hosting these events. Money should be spent where it is needed and it shouldn't be these trivial games

Sad India

I lived in Mumbai for 2 years & the indifference to the poor from the rich was unbarable. They don't deny the slums & poverty exist, it's just a reality plus the poor are useful..The focus is on oneself & family. I can kind of understand it with such a vast population, if you don't take a step forward you'll be trampled on, from queing on the train to getting an education to going for a job, the competition is great. More needs to be done for the poor from the rich and corruption needs to END.

Wrong information & facts

Are you sure that 80 rupees in India is less then a dollar? & Cost of games will take 25 years to repay ? Cost of Games involves other infrastructral projects in delhi i.e. Delhi metro, New Terminal etc. You focussed on Slums demolished, why you can't you show rehabiliation process? What you will do if you will see tents around opera house ? Won't remove it ?
