World Bank decision on forced eviciton on residents near Boeung Kak Lake
http://blog.witness.org/2011/03/boeung-kak/ This week the World Bank responded to the findings of an independent inspection panel charged to investigate a complaint filed by NGOs working on behalf of Boeung Kak Lake residents. The inspection panel asserted the World Bank mismanaged the project. In particular, the inspection panel cites that more than 4000 families or 20,000 people residing near Boeung Kak Lake were denied due process to have their land title claims sufficiently considered.

Unfair
After having watched the documentary I was shocked. This is absurd! This company has no right to force these peolpe from their homes for their personal interest. They are practically taking a step back in terms of the development process in Cambodia making everything worse which is definately not what should be happening, am I right? Even though Im involved in a group in my school to improve the situation - seeing it on film was like a reality check. Thank you for making it! A true eye opener

Phnom Penh Post on line
I read the Phnom Post every day and a very significant part of the news is about land disputes. Right opposite where I buy my meals there is a large, old building which houses thousands of the poor many of whom heve been there since the defeat of the Khmer Rouge. There was anarticle in the above paper about that building being pulled down because a devealoper has bribed the government into buying the land. I came to live in this part of Phnom Penh because of the area around Diamond Island where a great many poor fishermen lived on their small boats. There was a large market nearby with a fitness centre and rides for the kids. That has all gone, taken over by a devealoper. Where the boats were has been drianed. Where the market was, next to classy hotels is now vacant land and politicians are a whole lot richer driving around in Hummers and Lamborghinis etc.

Bring justice to poor Cambodian it depend on those foreign countries
Foreign aid to Cambodian government should make it accountable. There should be an organisation from foreign countries to monitor their aid and make those aid flow direct to the poor Cambodian. I believe most of the aid money was not flow from top official at all. Those foreign countries should to pressure on Cambodian government make sure justice can be bring to those poor Cambodian who had lost their land, home and their dignity. I hope my opinion count, i love Cambodia.
