Steady On
Forty years ago Australia was also very much in the clutches of the tobacco industry which only changed I believe with court cases against BAT and others around the world. I found the questioning by the reporter too pushy, barking yes/no instructions to the health department official and all but patronising the whole country. The story left me with an uneasy feeling of Asutralian moral supriority over a nation that hasn't enjoyed our good fortune in keeping overt corruption at bay.

Flaming liberal.
Obviously smoking is dangerous to your health. The problem I have with this story is the running around Indonesia telling Indonesians how to run their own country. Try doing that in China. I suspect you picked an easy target. This story could have been done in many other countries around the world. Government regulation isn't to blame it's the parents. Last time I checked Indonesia was a democracy, I say it's up to them to legislate public health regulations.

What a Big Boy!
We could not believe the size of that boy sucking on a Fag! What will his lungs be like when he matures into a fully formed man? Please can we have a follow-up on this Indonesian male child, just to see how he survives his smoking addiction?

Smoking
I find this report to quite honestly make me feel disgusted to be an Australian, was there any consideration into the sensitivity of the chosen interviewees? basically discipline starts at home, I was brought up to that principle. Maybe instead of pin-pointing the powerful figures in there society, did they ever consider going into villages and asking the parents on their thoughts? Good show, but such a biased segment.

honest report not too prejudicial re Indonesia being a SMOKING BOMB
The report re to Indonesia being a highly populated nation on this planet as also the most highest amount in the world of smokers was actually a shock. in my own mind I would have thought it would have been China, or USA, or even India. However it's not that in which my opinion that counts, The fact this report clearly shows & are also sensible feedbacks did show, but perhaps there is some valid argument as well in the point of industrial & auto pollutions that are an underlying killer factor

Why Indonesians don't have Olympic Gold Medalist
Obviously the majority of the population is not aware of basic health standards and the problem is compounded by the equally ignorant Government who turns a blind eye on the health conditions of the people. You can call the Government ignorant because it focuses on the present tax benefits it reaps from the tobacco companies but ignores the long range effects of the health of its present and future generations. Who will build & maintain the country when millions die young?
