Ancient wisdom for a modern world
Thank you so much for this story, I've been sharing it with everyone! I'm a huge fan of Wade Davis, & his "Why Ancient Wisdom Matters In The Modern World" talk resonates so powerfully when I see (& hear) the story of the Tuvans. When I fall into pessimism at the apathy & destruction of the modern world, I take heart in the fact there are people like Elisabeth Gordon supporting the Old Ways, when many of her musical contemporaries chase X-Factor celebrity.

Tuvan music
For those interested in Tuvan music, see Alash at http://www.alashensemble.com. Three of the four musicians shown in this film are members of Alash, a Tuvan group which has toured in North America, Europe, and Asia. Their website presents more music as well as information about Tuvan throat singing and Tuvan instruments. For Jim from Gundagai, you can contact the musicians through their website.

Great story. Glad I was watching at the time. I suppose it'd never happen from this page, but I would love to get in touch with two entities in this story, namely the quartet of Tuvan musicians (3 vocalists and and 1 string instrumentalist), and the Australian woman who was studying Tuvan music and its apparent decline. Seriously, if anyone there in SBS land happens to read this and may have a lead, I'm keen to contact these people and support their causes, in exchange for music collaboration.
