No sympathy

The program was an absolute disgrace in showing sympathy for these low lives. If they had succeeded in making the drug run they would have been celebrating their brilliance and daring without a thought for all the victims who are the consumers of these drugs. Where is the sympathy for the real victims of the drug trade? The view of one of them was that he is not prepared to work in an ordinary job because then he will not be able to afford the good things in life. Well he gambled and lost.

Other internationals stories...

Very well presented cover of the proceedings, consequences and real life dealings of "life" for Aussie drug runners on death row just north of us. The blokes came across as on the verge psychologically but still coping to a degree - thanks Dateline for quality, refreshing journalism and coverage seen on free to air Australian TV. A question to Mark and Andrew and co - who is the Germanic bloke who was in charge of the cook off and what's his story - i.e. any info on the guy - left arm full tat?

the AFP are dogs

i also wanted to give my view about the AFP's involvement in this. i think the bottom line is if they knew they should have let them board the plane and busted them here. Instead they played the grim reaper n end the lives of 9 ozzies. if they were arrested here they would be could looking forward to a parole date , not wondering if going to face a firing squad. i hope that the officer(s) made that call r haunted til death if there lives r taken. jus as the families these 2 would live every day

Kasihan (what a pity in Indonesian)

What a shame. I feel sorry for these guys. Life in prison in Indonesia is awful. I have visited friends in prison in Indonesia (not in Bali) and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Most of all I feel sorry for their families. We are all the master of our own destiny. I believe a prison sentence is punishment enough. As for people that buy drugs, that's their choice. Why do people blame these guys for drug users stupid choices. Why is heroin any worse than alcohol or cigarettes? They all kill!

we where fooled by media

first of all i want to thank Mark for showing a side to this story that we have been denied from the strat . i can see how people could have been fooled when all you are told about that these 2 ozzies where drug kingpins. until tonight all i knew about Myuran was the enforcer. how could anyone beleave that after hearing him speak tonight he jus seemed like a nice, mild mannered person. they both no they fuckd up but it doesn't deserve theyre lives. i truely beleave that the AFP is to blame

bali nine

i wonder if the AFP sought assurance from the indonesian government, not to impose the death penalty, before the bali nine were denounced by the AFP. i do not believe, an american life (e.g. gabe watson, who admitted to manslaughter) has more value than that of an australian. where is the consistency ?

Great Story tonight

I personally know Andrew and his family, and seen first hand the pain and grief they have suffered for 5 long years, I know they will be grateful for people who have written in support. I do believe that the punishment is way too harsh and the life change in Andrew is immense, he has remained positive through his faith in god and has touched many others who have met him. I feel honoured to see how far he has come and the dateline story did an amazing piece on the boys tonight.

It is such a shame

I found this story quite confronting and upsetting. I am torn in half. I believe what these young people were destined to do if they had been successful could have ruined a lot of lives in Australia. However I feel that the death penalty is too harsh a punishment and I say this purely for the symphathy I have for the families. I can't even imagine the constant heart ache and stress they are enduring as a result of this foolish no brainer idea which was simply in order to make a quick buck.
