If at first you don't fit in...
Very often Roma in Sweden live on the outskirts of society. They remove their children from education, are involved (generally amongst themselves) in violent confrontation and they steal EVERYTHING. Perhaps not violently but with other sneaky sort of methods. If the society you live doesn't have alot of respect for you, you should ask yourself why and then try to regain some lost dignity...

ITS MORE THAN WHAT IT SEEMS THANKS
Although its questionable what France is doing to the Romas, you cant honestly think every person in this group, is trustworthy & law obiding? The Roma people run one of the biggest Mafia links in Europe, exploiting children, -as a grandmother described when her 10 year old granddaughter was having a baby "its just what we do". My mother was even spat on by a Roma mother holding her child. My cousin had her bag stolen by a Roma woman also. Feel sorry for them? Only the children &good ppl suffer.

Give them a break
The answers are not easy but but why not try acceptance. It has never been tried! They have a long documented history in Europe of persecution and misunderstanding. What you see is just a symptom of the larger problems of poverty, exclusion, xenophobia and bullying. Not all Roma are alike but all have shared some of the same history. When opportunities are there amazing things can happen. I know my family are Roma and I thank God every day that my grandfathers had these opportunities.

ROMANI
Even though I am very aware of the existence of racism, it still amazes me to read some of these hateful and ignorant comments. The Romani have a long history in Europe and they have been almost completely removed from that history. Perfect example of dehumanization. The truth is that one can not even listen to Classical Music without unconsciously experiencing the contributions of the Romani. I just don't understand why people feel better if there is someone below them they can despise.

most bias raport
The commentator didn't even mentioned theft which is the MAIN source of 'income' for the Gypsies! They use children, acting in packs to steal. I watched a documentary from Slovenia where a Gypsy family ask for 'Public Housing' and is recognized to be the same family who devastated previous two flats-stealing whatever they can sell, even ripping off the electrical wiring (copper). Shame on Dateline and SBS with such a biased and unprofessional show!

European Veil, What does it hide?
Every year a story seems to pop up about these poor Romans who are supposed "European citizens" and it is always a sad story of a marginalized people. European's to me seem to wear a veil of kindness but when their economies fail they always find some minority to put all their blames on, Italy- Africans, UK- Muslims, Russia-no need to say, Nazi Germany- Jews. And now it seems like Romans are the new scape goat for incompetent economic management in the European Union. Such a shame.

France is wrong
Roma people are human beings and deserve to be treated as such.It makes me sick to see all the prejudice and discrimination against them. What France is doing is horribly wrong. Why not institute a govenrment job training and placement program and help with housing before you kick people out of your country?I read comments on here about Roma not wanting to work. The truth is many employers are racist and turn Roma down for jobs. How would you feel to have a door slammed in your face every day?
