Depressed Las Vegas

What's your first though when you hear Las Vegas? To my mind there comes thoughts of entertainments, casinos, money, sleepless night full of fun.But in this article we can see the inner side of this city.Actually, it's a city that's really depressed with the lack of money and high unemployment rate.People just have no money to pay rent and bills, that's why with loosing their property they loose the last hope for a better life. It's really sad to see it all and more sad is that an answer to the question "What all these people should do?"is still not found.

Depression USA

YES they avoid calling it a depression but mentioned that it was a recession of some sort. BS! it has been depression for a long time and will be for a long time. No middle class - either rich or poor . I think most of this stems from a false economy on borrowed money that could never be paid back - so go figure. There is no health service like Medicare. like there should be due to greedy politics. .4% of wages would cover public health. Basically the country is screwed.

This is not new

When I was in San Francisco in 1991 (the last time I visited the US - never to return), I was shocked to see women and small children living on the sidewalk and begging. Walking back to my hotel, I would see large numbers of people sleeping under the staircases. There does not seem to be a social safety net, nor did there seem to be any civic organizations such as the Salvation Army, the Smith Family, etc as we have here. And they have the hide to point the finger at Cuba!

A hand from across the world!!!

Recently returning from the US, I can confirm how true this story was, but how it neglected to show you one thing. Vegas is only one part of the US where this is happening. I Manage a successful business & have people working for me, getting paid well who don't deserve it. We have no idea what they have in front of us & how lucky we are. Give me George's details and I will sponsor this fellow human in Australia & give him a job he deserves. The least I can do, noone should be homeless.

Sounds like the

This story could have been set on the Gold Coast. As they said on the show, the economists tell us we are on the way up. These people need to get out of their offices - along with all government bureaucrats and politicians - and see how empty the shopping centres are, talk to all the retail staff who have been put on the bare minimum shifts and all the other 200+ applicants for the same job vacancy.

Due to the outrageous greed and incompetence of the top end of town (which still continues unabated) honest working class families have lost their jobs. The money people can now make even greater wealth from those who have lost their homes and possessions through rock bottom prices. That is bad enough, however to see people with little kids being put out on the streets,is outrageous! Obviously they are not part of the trillion dollar bail outs, no! give it to rich greedy scumbags. Shame America!

Las Vegas blues - a good piece

This good story unfortunately shows too clearly how the economic crisis in the US impacts on the lives of many ordinary Americans. It seems a lot of people have been thrust out of work by the errors in the economic system. as other people mentioned it is very sad to see people have all their belongs auctioned off. Do we want this economic system in Australia? Many uniformed people seem to think so. Capitalism doesn't always work in favour of the majority of people.

Totaly sick

I wanted to turn the show off, it made me sick just to imagine the pain those people must have felt, and the childrens anguish and loss stability in there young lives, America should be ashamed, how can the USA turn there backs on this sort of thing after giving the banks billions to bail them out, best lett the banks go broke instead and pay the rent for the people effected by the banks lust for profit or suffer revelution in there own country like middle east.
