Xanana, A Great Strategist.

Ernie Chamberlain. What's the point of Xanana's "acknowledging his mistakes" and "supporting integration" if eventually he kept on leading the resistance against the Indonesian right in the eyes of Indonesian's army for the independence of his people?!!! You need to be clever enough in strategies to fight against a so called mighthy force of South East Asia and Xanana is one of the great strategists the world ever have.

From Sabang to Merauke

@ Jim Morris: Sukarno's slogan "From Sabang to Merauke" was in resistance against the Dutch colonial rule. The eastern half of the island Timor was not part of the Dutch colonies (as it was under Portuguese colonial rule). Sukarno had no reason to kick out the catholics, nor did he have reasons to kick out the protestants from the Moluccas or Sulawesi. In short, please read some history books before you comment......

East Timor...

Jim morris look at the map and you'll see Australia should be Indonesia also right? They should have kicked the british butchers out? Right???? You cant help that your kolonial mindset is making you so blind that you cant even see the difference between asia and melanesia. Indonesia is a neo kolonial product continuing the kolonial heritage of netherlands. @Sally: Yes you right. They now praise indonesia's human rights efforts but forget Papua and Maluku. Great documentary. Xanana a great man

Xanana the sign of Victory back to '1975 to 2005'

Thousands and thousands civilians were killed. Finally we reached to top end of the freedom with all the fights and contributions to gain the Victory. Lots of people don't know the history of East Timor. I think this video is just one of hundreds of documentaries from Mark Davis and others. I hope there will be more documentaries coming up. One minutes of silence for the heroes..A strong country is where the people know how to respect and praise their heroes and proud of being Timorese.

Thanx Mark Davis for this piece of history

Finaly Mark Davis you come up with another brilliant documentary about Timor Leste history, and personally, being a Timorese myself, i'm very greatful and really appreciate it. Timor Leste is never part of Indonesia historicaly and culturally as well. those of you that refer to Sukarno's speech, and saying about the map! well i think this guy knew even back then that Timor Leste was a different country of our own. and never part of Indonesian at all. we will always b good neighbours though

Very Proud of Xanana

Personally, I am really proud of him when I watched this film, so brave and consistent on what he was struggle for. This video will become one of our stories struggled for our independence and good legacy for our children. Now we have a very good relation with Indonesia. Even it is hard because of the invasion but Timor-Leste and Indonesia have to move on.
