Re:Fatcat Socialists Ipswich QLD

Democratic socialism can achieve significantly productive outcomes if managed well. The Scandinavia region had been a great example of this - in the past. The issue with such a system is the leeches that it draws, who inevitably bring the system to its knees. . You should take a close look at the socialist public policies that have been in place in Germany. Further to state that the US or Australia are socialist is ill founded and unsubstantiated, do highlight what policies support this

How about more on the Greeks who understand why this crisis is occurring!

In your story, "Greek Tragedy", there is a gentlemen speaking around the 14:30 mark, stating that Greeks didn't work enough. To bring proper perspective and balance, why don't you do a story on those Greeks who saw this financial crisis coming, and who see that what is now occurring is basically deserving. I for one want to hear more from the wise and intelligent Greeks, like that gentleman. These are the people who we should be listened to, these are the people who should be running Greece.

European Enemies

People have very short memories. The European Union was allways pushing Greece to accept development money, but it would have to find 50% of the money from elsewhere. Portugal is in trouble because it took a Eurpoean development package, rejected by Greece. The development went ahead with most of the money ending back in northern Europe to pay for materials and labour. Northern Europe still wants to act like a Colonial Power.

Hiding the Truth

The state of the Greek debt was allways known by everybody who wanted to know. Greece was bought down by the collapse of the International Banks. In fact two years ago productivity in Greece was the average of the Union. Even in Business one knows the biggerst friend & enemy is the banks. Greece has not been much different in its reluctance to deregulate its economy than much of Europe. The left wing 60 year old Union idiots still dream of a world Socialist Republic.

The buried truth demands compassion!

Most Greeks are mere victims of incompetence and corruption; also continuously mushroomed (kept in dark, fed on shit). Tax avoidance is either by the mega-rich (shipping magnates) or wealthy professionals. For the rest, the new tax increases are cruelty. Re lazy Greeks, 2005 data on hrs/wk worked: Greeks, 43.1 (Germans, 35.7; Dutch, 30.7)! Greeks are scapegoats in a flawed economic system supporting the Euro at expense of struggling economies unable to play the economic game like the big boys!

People of Greece own up to the past laziness

There are a very few lone voices out there in Greece who are willing to admit that that their country enjoyed , and ultimately suffered from, a lazy corrupt public service where people enjoyed the good life and retired at age 50. The chickens are coming home to roost now. As much as Goldman Sachs assisted in cooking the books for the government, numerous people are unable to come to terms with the true meaning of a hard days work and now blame Germany for their own laziness which caused this.

Greek credit crisi

Greece's people are the victims of political corruption and exploitation by both Greek, European and intenrational politicans and financiers. The debt they have accumalated includes the purchase of military weapons which they dont need. Why dont Greeks get equal pay with other European nations? Why is Goldman Sachs involved in any process to investigate Greek debt, when they helped hide it over 10 years ago? Austerity has hurt the innocent in an attempt to protect European banks.
