keeping the feet on the ground
I remember hearing of an african state years ago, that after many years of most un-civil war rejected monetary assistance from world bodies & dicided to build themselves up out from the rubble of what was left, they were rebuilding the railway at the time, forget the oil, go for community!

Go back where you come From
A lot of South Sudanese in Australia have fully embraced the Australian values and culture and are here to stay. Many are already citizens, they have Australian born children and others have intermarried. What actually remains to be seen is the change in attitude towards South Sudanese in Australia. Unfortunately many Australians still see us as foreigners who should leave! Many of us are capable and would want to actively participate the Aussie Economy but are denied employment here. Fair Go?!

Interesting story
An interesting story. It was fascinating to see Juba as the capital of the new nation which for so many years was a bastion of the government from the north. I would have liked to see more insight into the aspects of life for the general population that live outside Juba and what this new recognition will mean for them. Extreme climatic conditions, lack of roads and intertribal disputes between Nuer and Dinka have made life very difficult for sudanese quite apart from the war with the north.

REFUGEES SHOULD RETURN TO SOUTH SUDAN!
It is time that South Sudanese Refugees return to their country and rebuild it up. I know some young South Sudanese African men that are in their 20's now residing in Australia. It is time for these young men to go back, rebuild their country instead of living off the Aussie Tax Payer. They are fit men who should be making a difference in their own country and not living off Aussies. The South Sudanese Africans who have returned should stay in Africa and make their country into something!!

Southern Sudan - Inspiration for us all!
Great story!!! Southern Sudan will have alot of issues 2 overcome but will one day be a strong proud nation. I'm going there in Jan/Feb 2012 to assist in the set up of a school in Wernyol in Jonglei State. I'm an average Aussie bloke married, 4 kids & was flood effected however I'm reaching in2 my own pocket cause Australia is the lucky country & we have so much 2 give this country & people. We need 2 take the philosophy "Give a man a fish v.s. teach a man 2 fish". Again well done Yalda & SBS!!!

Great Story
More often than not we are inundated by the media with the persistent complaining of ppl wanting a handout or crying foul of the "west" for their lot in life. The attitude of the S. Sudanese in this story is inspirational & if every refugee took a leaf out of their book then the world might be better for it. This is what asylum should be - a "refuge" not an easy ticket to a better economic situation.
